Seguiriyas (Flamenco Guitar)

Seguiriyas

Seguiriyas by Yerai Cortés.

The seguiriyas (a.k.a., siguiriyas) is another style in flamenco. This particular piece is also titled “Seguiriyas” and the style is characterized by a 12-beat pattern with accents on beats 1, 3, 5, 8 & 11. This form is typically played using a modal key center (e.g., A Phrygian) and can vary greatly in tempo. Pay close attention to Yerai’s rhythmic variation and improvisation. Amazing!

If you’re just starting out or looking for fresh inspiration, check out Flamenco Guitar music through the lively melodies of La Barrosa.

Then, build your harmonic vocabulary by practicing Flamenco Guitar chord shapes in Danza Árabe—perfect for developing smooth transitions.

Cap it off with a bold flamenco guitar piece like Casilda.
