Barrios’ entire suite, “La Catedral 1st Movement” is considered one of the most important works in the classical guitar repertoire. The 2 most popular movements are numbers 1 & 3. Movement 1 is the prélude to the entire suite. Note how expressive Raphael plays this piece. Pay particular attention to his dynamic and tempo variation as well as his tone.
If you’re exploring new pieces to build your skills, this one is a beautiful example of expressive phrasing and tone in Spanish guitar music. It’s a great addition to any practice session.
